On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women / University of Baghdad celebrated the Iraqi National Day on October 3 each year. This day marks Iraq’s independence from the British Mandate in 1932 and its official admission to the League of Nations. It is a moment in which the Iraqi people recall the achievements accomplished over the past ninety years across various fields. The occasion represents one of the most significant milestones in Iraq’s modern history, symbolizing the triumph of its people in their long struggle for freedom and dignity.
The celebration began with a special event organized by the college’s Ceremonial Committee, attended by the dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, and a group of faculty members, staff, and students.
The event opened with patriotic songs expressing love and loyalty to the homeland. In her speech, the Dean congratulated attendees on Iraq’s National Day and expressed her pride in the nation’s accomplishments under its wise leadership. She also emphasized the vital role of educational institutions in fostering values of patriotism and national belonging among students.
